Groundbreaking Ceremony of cement plant in Cabo Delgado, Mozambique

Groundbreaking ceremony of Delgado Cement Plant was held successfully on the morning of 1st July, 2015 in Pemba, the capital of Cabo Delgado, Mozambique. Wang Lipei, Economic and Commercial Counselor of Chinese Embassy in Mozambique, came to the ceremony and gave a speech. Governor of Cabo Delgado and chief executives of Pemba started the ceremony. Department heads in Pemba, bank supervisors, local entrepreneurs, friends coming from Chinese commerce chamber and residents in surrounding areas also came to the site and celebrated commissioning of the cement project. Among Chinese investment shareholders, Cheng Biao, president of Zhonggang Construction Group, Cheng Bing, president of Zhonggang Construction Group Investment Holdings, Qin Keding, general manager of Zhonggang Construction Group Investment Holdings as well as Liu Zhongyu and Liu Weiya, president and general manager of the local investment shareholder Pemba Construction Group attended and participated in the ceremony.
Delgado Cement Plant is the first cement work in this province. As Mozambique discovers a huge amount of natural gas resources (proven reserves of natural gas is the 3rd largest in the world) in this region, Pemba will become an industrial base for gas exploitation, liquefaction, deep processing, storage and transportation as well as export. A great deal of capitals will be invested here to build infrastructures, industrial park, dock and port, road and auxiliary projects; therefore, cement will be a necessary industrial material and the market demand will be great.
Zhonggang Construction Group and Pemba Construction Group will form an alliance between giants by virtue of their advantages. Based on a deep market research, the cement plant will be constructed in two phases. The first phase is a preliminary investment on a cement grinding station with an annual capacity of 250,000 tons, and the station will be put into operation in early 2016. The second phase is to build clinker production line with an annual capacity of 1 million tons in order to provide stable and high-quality cement products for local development. According to initiation and proposal of Chinese government, we will set up aims and schedules to finish the project with high efficiency and quality, providing strong support for the economic development of Mozambique.
